LONDON--()--The painting is by Rob Wilson, an award-winning artist based in Derbyshire. Working mainly in mixed media, he has used artisan paint and paper for this piece – a street scene with a cafe, entitled ‘Illy’.
“If any other artists would like to include 1st Byte in a painting, we might consider buying it – or part exchange!”
A designer by profession, Mr Wilson is heavily influenced by graphic and textile design. He happened to have a 1st Byte brochure to hand when looking for a particular magenta colour for the piece.
Lawrence Dalton, Managing Director of 1st Byte has purchased the painting, along with another by Mr Wilson that includes part of a 1st Byte brochure without the logo. Both are now hanging in the 1st Byte offices.
“If any other artists would like to include 1st Byte in a painting, we might consider buying it – or part exchange!” Mr Dalton offered.
Last year, 1st Byte was the first purely digital printer to be named Company of the Year (with fewer than 100 employees) in the annual printing industry awards. More information about 1st Byte and its printing services can be found at http://www.1stbyte.co.uk/ and http://www.1stbyte.co.uk/services/index.php
Mr Wilson is inspired by the dramatic architecture and moody landscapes of northwest England. In 2007 he won Best Artist at the Buxton Festival Fringe and a commendation at the Derbyshire Open. More of his work can be found at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton and at Stockport Art Gallery. Information about his work and future exhibitions is available from: rob.m.wilson@talk21.com.
