LOS ANGELES--()--With driver distractions playing an ever-increasing role in accidents and fatalities on today’s fast-paced roads, Al & Ed’s Autosound is helping Southern California drivers avoid dangerous driving situations by offering the Mobileye Accident Avoidance System to aftermarket consumers in Southern California.
“Al & Ed’s Autosound has been a fixture in California for more than 50 years. Their customers are truly passionate enthusiasts who will settle for nothing less than the finest aftermarket products and most innovative technologies”
As drivers continue to risk and lose their lives by driving inattentively, a growing statistic due to the flurry of in-car distractions and increasing traffic, the Mobileye Accident Avoidance System uses intelligent vision-based technologies, such as forward collision warning, headway monitoring, pedestrian detection and lane departure warning systems to help drivers improve safety and avoid accidents while driving.
Once installed by the experts at Al & Ed’s Autosound, the Mobileye system acts as a ‘third eye’ for drivers, detecting situations where the vehicle may be in danger of colliding with another vehicle, person or object, and subsequently alerting the driver to the danger with a warning sound and visual indication.
In addition, the system’s innovative lane departure warning technology detects and measures road markings to determine if the driver is unintentionally encroaching into another lane. The system immediately alerts the driver to the potentially dangerous lane drift until corrective action is taken.
As insufficient distance between vehicles traveling on a road is a major source of rear-end accidents on Southern California’s freeways, Mobileye's headway technology uses monocular vision for vehicle detection and range measurement, and also applies lane analysis in order to measure road geometry and curvature to determine the CIPV (Closest In Path Vehicle).
“Previously only available in a select few luxury automobiles, Mobileye is a truly revolutionary technology whose aftermarket availability will have a real impact on the safety of Southern California’s freeways,” said John Haynes, Product Manager, Al & Ed’s Autosound. “Today’s vehicles have become our comfort zones and it is easy to forget that you are behind the wheel of a machine that is traveling at a potentially lethal rate of speed. Even the seemingly smallest distraction such as inserting a CD, glancing at the GPS map or adjusting the volume on the radio can result in a potentially fatal accident on today’s fast moving roads. From everyday commuters, to new drivers and their parents, to elderly drivers, the Mobileye system could be a lifesaver when you least expect it.”
The Mobileye AWS-2000 and AWS-4000 are available at any of Al & Ed’s Autosound’s 20 Southern California stores for $999 and $1,299 respectively. The devices come standard with Forward Collision Warning for both highway and urban settings, Lane Departure Warning, and adjustable alerts. Components include a windshield-mounted vision sensor unit with a compact High Dynamic Range CMOS camera and SeeQ image processing board, a high quality speaker and volume control unit. The Mobileye can be installed into any vehicle by Al & Ed’s mobile electronic specialists.
“Al & Ed’s Autosound has been a fixture in California for more than 50 years. Their customers are truly passionate enthusiasts who will settle for nothing less than the finest aftermarket products and most innovative technologies,” said Skip Kinford CEO of Mobileye, Inc.
