TransCard Celebrates Earth Day With Monetary Donations

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--TransCard (www.transcard.com) – a leading provider of prepaid debit card solutions branded with MasterCard®, Discover® Network and STAR associations – is honoring Earth Day by donating 100% of all payroll transaction fees on April 22, 2009, to charities involved in preserving and restoring the Amazon Rain Forest.

TransCard continues to support TransCard Green, a project that assists the development, education, and promotion of environmentally sensitive projects in the prepaid space. Among its initiatives, TransCard Green has worked to:

• Add mass-transit incentive programs to the TransCard portfolio of card products

• Educate clients on the environmental advantages of electronic card programs over paper-based programs
• Establish a card-based, carpool incentive program for our clients’ employees
• Expand mobile and electronic payroll stubs to help reduce the number of trees that are destroyed and eliminate the amount of waste produced by the manufacturing of payroll stubs; eliminating payroll stubs can save 220,000 trees annually and preserve 55,000 square feet of forest from being destroyed

(Electronic paystubs also lower costs associated with printing and distributing paystubs.)

• Invest in technologies and systems that provide a reduction in carbon emissions across all of the TransCard product offerings
• Provide marketing resources and investment in prepaid programs that have environmentally friendly components
• Recruit and develop corporate and card programs that support green initiatives
