DALLAS--()--TransCore introduces the SmartPass® 4 low-cost automatic equipment identification (AEI) tag reader. The SmartPass 4 is a fully integrated, self-contained radio frequency identification-based AEI tag reader specifically targeted at low-speed AEI applications such as yards, scales, loadouts, shipper locations, etc.
The SmartPass 4 can read Association of American Railroads (AAR)-encoded AEI tags. Additionally, the SmartPass 4 provides onboard decoding of AAR-encoded tags to directly output the railcar information without the need for additional decoding software, improving efficiency and streamlining processes.
SmartPass 4 readers are designed for unparalleled flexibility. Each is equipped with an onboard real-time clock to track when tags are read; expanded tag buffering; programmable operating frequency and RF power; and built-in self-test. An optional configuration replaces the internal antenna with an external antenna offering increased installation flexibility over previous models. This allows for the use of low-profile antennas in restricted clearance locations and for the reader to be mounted out of harm’s way.
SmartPass 4 readers are quickly and easily installed, tested, and maintained by TransCore-trained authorized partners. The SmartPass 4's command set is compatible with previous generation SmartPass readers.
