DALLAS--()--Credit Solutions employees are stepping up, volunteering for WalkingWorks®, a 10-week Blue Cross Blue Shield wellness initiative that helps incorporate physical activity into Americans’ busy schedules, and for an upcoming West Dallas Habitat for Humanity® build Oct. 6-13.
“We strive to keep community involvement a vital part of the culture at Credit Solutions”
WalkingWorks participants receive a free pedometer; access to an online log to track how far they walk every day; weekly fitness emails; and “Blue Points” they can redeem for gift cards and other prizes. Individuals with disabilities may participate by logging miles traveled in wheelchairs or laps swum.
According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, pedometer use is associated with a significant increase in physical activity and a significant decrease in body mass index and blood pressure.1
Walking and other forms of aerobic exercise increase your heart rate for an extended period of time. This helps to strengthen the heart, lungs and muscles. Aerobic exercise can also help lower blood pressure and maintain a healthy weight.
In addition, employees are volunteering to refurbish a West Dallas house on behalf of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. Join us by signing up at www.creditsolutionscares.com.
The Credit Solutions Cares website showcases employees’ ongoing community service efforts, highlighting a different non-profit organization each month with video footage of volunteers. A recent video highlights employee’s volunteer efforts with “Welcome Home a Hero”, supporting service personnel returning from overseas duty. The site also features a Credit Solutions Cares employee magazine archive.
“We strive to keep community involvement a vital part of the culture at Credit Solutions,” said CEO Doug Van Arsdale. “The Credit Solutions Cares site is a way to recognize employees for their dedication to bettering their community.”
To date, Credit Solutions employees have donated nearly 4,000 hours and raised more than $10,000 in an on going program to give back to the local community.
