ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--()--Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a business segment of Arrow Electronics Inc. (NYSE: ARW), today introduced the Advanced Data Services Solution (ADSS), a preconfigured and integrated storage-virtualization platform, through a distribution agreement with LSI Corporation.
“The ADSS solution removes the complexity of integrating virtualization into existing SAN infrastructures by completing the installation and configuration prior to customer shipment”
Designed to bring enterprise-class data-management services to Sun Microsystems midrange storage systems, ADSS integrates LSI™ StoreAge™ SVM™ (Storage Virtualization Manager) software with the Sun™ ST6000 family of modular disk-storage systems. ADSS brings enhanced scalability, increased performance, improved utilization of storage area network (SAN) assets and reduced complexity through a single management tool. It extends Sun's native storage services through a storage-virtualization platform that supports centralized management across multiple storage systems. Also, it is designed to address a comprehensive set of data services, including volume management, thin provisioning, nondisruptive data migration, copy services such as replication and snapshot, and local and remote mirroring.
"The ADSS solution removes the complexity of integrating virtualization into existing SAN infrastructures by completing the installation and configuration prior to customer shipment," said J. Kevin Powell, vice president, business development, for Arrow ECS’ MOCA Group, which manages the distributor’s Sun business. "This is a simple and cost-effective solution that can significantly improve data protection and lower overall storage costs."
ADSS is manufactured by LSI, a provider of silicon, systems and software technology that power leading solutions in the storage and networking markets.
“ADSS underscores our commitment at LSI to provide Sun resellers with complete solutions that address key end-customer challenges," said Mark Spowart, vice president, software and solutions, LSI. "By improving storage efficiency and utilization, ADSS can help to significantly lower the overall cost of storage ownership and provides enterprise-class management services in a midrange platform.”
