IRVINE, Calif.--()--Village Green Global, Inc. today announced its partnership with East Los Angeles College for a five-week intensive program for “Environmental EM&V Training” to commence on February 24, 2010. Using a “train the trainer” strategy, the college is seeking individuals who can quickly learn environmental assessment techniques, then present these concepts to new technicians to provide them the skills necessary to qualify for available green jobs in a fast growing market. Tuition (worth $1,200) will be fully paid for the first 50 qualified applicants.

Training will be conducted by Doug Smith, M. Sus. Prac., an expert with global experience in energy efficiency, change management theory and building assessments. The training will involve hands-on assessment of businesses, schools and government buildings. Training will utilize Village Green’s SaaS software tool – SMARTweb® – to assist participants in the EM&V of sustainability recommendations. With pressure for organizations to manage their carbon footprint and understand the impact they have on the environment, Village Green helps companies focus on sustainable practices.
Trainees will complete and verify a commercial and residential building-level audit, present the recommendations to the building owners for uptake in their building. The curriculum covers specific skills, such as environmental management, energy efficiency, occupational health, risk management, measuring water flows and quality, analyzing electrical and HVAC devices, insulation, air quality, and techniques of on-site data collection as well as investigate HERS (Home Energy Rating System) processes. Trainees will become proficient in calculating the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission of buildings and assist building owners to better understand how to reduce energy costs and reduce GHG emissions.
Applications for participation in the program are due February 11, 2010, and will be reviewed by East Los Angeles College and Village Green Global.
