Women Shoppers to Spend 'About the Same' on Clothing Purchases in 2010, but Trending Towards Online Purchases

CheapToday Tracks Shopping Sentiment through 'Just Wondering' Survey

BOSTON--()--CheapToday, Inc., the Online Shopping Network specializing in publishing quality deals from high profile brands, today announced the latest results from its 'Just Wondering' survey.

“With respect to the amount of clothing and apparel items you expect to buy online compared with in-store in 2010, do you think you will purchase more, about the same, or less clothing and apparel items online in comparison with in-store in 2010 than you did in 2009?”

CheapToday regularly surveys its Women Shopper and Power Mom subscribers to monitor buying behavior, attitudes, and trends. When asked, "With respect to the amount of money you expect to spend on clothing and apparel items in 2010, do you expect to spend more money, about the same amount of money or less money on clothing and apparel items in 2010 than you did in 2009?"

301 responses were received. The responses were as follows:

- 41% responded about the same amount of money
- 35% responded less money
- 24% responded more money

"For respondents planning to spend about the same, many mentioned they intend to remain frugal. For those who plan to spend more, many noted they had been out of work but are now employed and have more disposable income. Those who plan to spend less stated their economic struggles remain in 2010," said Chris Hill, President & CEO of CheapToday, Inc.

In a follow-up survey, respondents were asked, "With respect to the amount of clothing and apparel items you expect to buy online compared with in-store in 2010, do you think you will purchase more, about the same, or less clothing and apparel items online in comparison with in-store in 2010 than you did in 2009?"

- 54% expect to purchase about the same online
- 24% expect to purchase more online
- 22% expect to purchase less online

"While most respondents enjoy a balance of online deal hunting and in-store purchasing, we are seeing a trend favoring online purchases," said Chris Hill, President & CEO of CheapToday, Inc.
