SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Hoge Fenton Jones & Appel, a leading Northern California law firm, today announced that Jeanine DeBacker, J.D., an experienced employment lawyer, has joined the firm. DeBacker will be based in the firm’s Silicon Valley office.

DeBacker is an employment law litigator who uses her courtroom experience to help employers prevent litigation through well-crafted policies, staff trainings, and informal dispute resolution. She both counsels businesses on human resource and employment law issues and defends them in sexual harassment, race and age discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour, bonus and commission, and other employment and compensation related claims.
A member of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, DeBacker also represents qualified retirement plans, 401(k) plans, and multi-employer pension and welfare plans in litigation and before government agencies. She works with clients regarding plan administration, qualification and participant communication, and handles Department of Labor and IRS controversies and ERISA litigation.
DeBacker is a graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law and Wellesley College. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management, currently serving as the Legislative Director for the California State Council. She also is a member of the Northern California Human Resources Association, Central Valley Human Resource Management Association, and International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She is a frequent speaker, regularly presenting on numerous employment and benefits related topics at the invitation of professional organizations all over the state.
