SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--With only one week remaining until Earth Day, SunChips and Earth911.com are making it easy to get involved in making a difference in communities around the country.
“We are also encouraging people to continue their efforts by using our Recycling Directory year round, as it is the only national directory where people can find comprehensive, local resources.”
Earth911.com launched a special section of its Web site to mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. The section not only features 40 tips about reducing, reusing and recycling, but also hosts a Twitter contest ending in a giveaway on April 22.
Earth911.com’s Twitter contest provides two new tips each weekday. By tweeting the section’s Web address (http://earth911.com/earthday/) each day a new set of tips is released, members of the Twitter audience are entered into a drawing to receive eco-friendly prizes.
A premier sponsor for the contest, SunChips will be featured in a tip on Earth Day about newly introduced compostable products, as the company recently launched the world’s first 100 percent compostable chip bag that composts in 14 weeks when placed in a hot, active compost bin. To help encourage composting, SunChips also contributed a home composting system to the prizes available through Earth911’s Twitter contest.
“This contest is a great way to learn more about the three Rs, as well as share this information with friends,” said Colt Melby, Earth911’s CEO. “We are also encouraging people to continue their efforts by using our Recycling Directory year round, as it is the only national directory where people can find comprehensive, local resources.”
The Earth911.com Recycling Directory hosts more than 120,000 listings for hundreds of different products. Available on Earth911.com, through Earth911’s free iRecycle iPhone app and via its toll free, bilingual hot line, 1-800-CLEANUP, Earth911 makes it simple for consumers to find recycling programs near them.
Those interested in participating in the contest can visit Earth911’s Earth Day section for official rules, a list of prizes and daily tips to tweet and also follow Earth911 (@Earth911).
