National Free Comic Book Day Hits Saturday, May 1st; A Fun and Free Event for Everyone!

NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--May 1st, thousands of comic book retailers across North America and around the world will share the magic of comic books with their communities when they give out over two million comic books—free of charge—during Free Comic Book Day.

“This is a great opportunity for comic shops to showcase their stores and celebrate all the creativity and excitement comic books have to offer.”

There’s literally a free comic book for everyone’s taste: from Toy Story, Shrek and Sonic: the Hedgehog comics to Iron Man, Superman, and Doctor Solar… even a comic book on Lady Gaga.

Comic book heavyweights Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, and Marvel Comics are among the many publishers creating these special titles for Free Comic Book Day 2010, the ninth year for the annual event. The free books appeal to a broad range of tastes, from exciting super-hero adventures to cool kid’s comics and even cutting-edge graphic fiction for adults.

“We are thrilled to be a part of Free Comic Book Day,” said DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee. “This is a great opportunity for comic shops to showcase their stores and celebrate all the creativity and excitement comic books have to offer.”

Along with free reading material, comic book stores will also have creator signings, special sales and encourage customers to dress up as their favorite super hero or comic book character while attending the event.
