The French biopharmaceutical group LFB will be travelling to the BIO2010 congress in Chicago, to find:
- Partners to co-develop its monoclonal antibodies (anti-CD20, anti-D) and recombinant transgenic proteins (FVIIa, FIX, AFP, Alpha-1-antitrypsin)
- Products to develop: monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins in late pre-clinical or early clinical development stages in our therapeutic areas of interest, namely hemostasis, Immunology, Haemato-oncology and Intensive care.
- Innovative technologies in the fields of expression, and purification of monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins.
- Commercial partnerships for licensing-in hospital products for short term launch in France.
- Collaborations for MAbgène, its GMP biomanufacturing affiliate (CMO).
LFB’s key achievements in 2009
- February : Therapure Biopharma Inc. and LFB Biotechnologies announce a development services contract for a new therapeutic protein Therapure will apply its expertise to the development of an innovative plasma protein resulting from LFB’s research.
- July: LFB BIOTECHNOLOGIES increased its stake in GTC Biotherapeutics, with an over all funding – through several financing structures – of 31M$. To date, the Group is holding 71% of GTC equity.
- August: Marketing authorization filing in Germany for LFB WILLFACT®, factor von Willebrand.
- September: First patient dosed in the phase II clinical trial of LFB monoclonal Anti-D (indicated for the prevention of fetomaternel RhD alloimmunization in rhesus negative women).
- October 2009: Sanofi-Aventis and LFB announce a project of industrial cooperation for the manufacturing of biotech products within the alliance, and for CMO, contract offers to third parties.
- MAbgène (LFB’s subsidiary) expands its GMP facilities to produce phase III clinical and commercial batches of biomolecules, with capacity up to 1000l disposables.
- November 2009: LFB’s recombinant anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody is granted orphan drug status in Europe for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
- December 2009: FDA grants Orphan Drug Designation to LFB’s « Complement Factor H» a human plasma-derived product, currently in pre-clinical development. The designated orphan indication is for the "Treatment of atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) associated with an inherited abnormality of the complement system".
- Marketing authorization filing on the French market for LFB CLAIRYG® (New Generation of Polyvalent immunoglobulin).
- Thallion Pharmaceuticals Inc. and LFB Biotechnologies announced the signing of a definitive development and commercialization agreement for Shigamabs®, Thallion’s product candidate for the treatment of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, or STEC, infections.
