CellAntenna Introduces Cell Phone Detection System to Prevent Passenger Train and Public Transportation Accidents

Within the past three years, dozens of deaths have been attributed to train engineers distracted by cell phone calls and texts, including a 2008 incident in Los Angeles where 25 people lost their lives and more than 100 people were injured. The threat extends to bus drivers and heavy machinery operators as well. The CJAM-TA solution corresponds to February’s announcement by the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) of its 2010 Federal Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvements. On that list, cell phone use by motor coach and bus drivers was highlighted. However, proposals by the NTSB to install video cameras in trains fall short of fully addressing the issue.

The train engineer can then be contacted immediately and the cell phone turned off. CJAM-TA can also be applied to bus drivers and heavy machinery operators.
