Tropical Storm Alex Continues Steady Path Towards Northeast Mexico and Extreme Southern Texas Gulf Coast

--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The WeatherBug Meteorological Operations Team is actively tracking the path of Tropical Storm Alex as it churns over the warm southwestern Gulf of Mexico with hurricane formation likely later today. Meteorologists are available 24x7 to provide the media with expert commentary and information on current conditions; impact analysis and recommendations on public safety preparations for the potentially devastating effects of the storms.

Tropical Storm Alex will impact the extreme southern Texas Gulf Coast starting early Wednesday with the height of the storm hitting late Wednesday and early Thursday. A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Baffin Bay, Texas to La Cruz, Mexico. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Baffin Bay, Texas northward to Port O'Connor, Texas. The system will produce hurricane and tropical storm force winds that will knock out power. Quick-developing tornadoes will cause additional damage and more than a foot of rain will cause widespread flash flooding across the lower Rio Grande Valley and southern Texas. Along the coast, batter waves and a storm surge of three to five feet will cause coastal flooding, beach erosion and damage coastal and just-inland property.
