California ISO Holds Renewable Energy Forum This Week

FOLSOM, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The rapid growth of clean, renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power is driving dramatic changes in the electricity industry. Greenhouse gas-free resources provide important environmental benefits, but their intermittent nature and typically remote locations require new types of generation, operational tools as well as new transmission lines.

Meeting California’s 33 percent renewable portfolio standard by 2020 requires careful analysis and innovative thinking. The California Independent System Operator Corporation’s (ISO) Renewables Integration Market and Product Review program is designed to identify generation needs and related enhancements to the ISO market that will help “green the grid” by reliably and cost effectively helping California reach its 33 percent renewable standard.
