TOPIC: |
Live full-motion video (FMV) from unmanned aerial systems has become indispensable in military and intelligence operations. Quality imagery is essential to mission success. Inconsistent quality and image degradation are problems and require immediate action. | |||||
| New open-architecture image processing technology is available to provide a level of visual clarity that has never been possible before. A wide variety of sophisticated image enhancement algorithms that have successfully been used on still images can now be applied to FMV. | ||||||
Image processing algorithms are computationally intensive, especially for FMV. Multiple video streams at 30 frames per second in real-time, with zero latency, must be processed. This can now be achieved using an advanced platform capable of parallel processing at virtually unlimited speed. At the heart of this system is an open architecture that makes it possible to tap into an ever-expanding collection of image enhancement algorithms. |
