Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Selects Silver Spring Networks for Smart Grid Initiative

Central Maryland Customers and Future Generations to Benefit

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Silver Spring Networks, a leading provider of Smart Grid solutions, proudly announces that it has signed a definitive agreement with Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) to provide its smart grid platform and related software and services in support of BGE’s recently approved Smart Grid Initiative. Silver Spring will act as the prime contractor for networking technology, smart meters, gas modules and related solutions for a project that BGE has estimated will deliver more than $2.5 billion worth of customer savings.

In addition, it will help the state of Maryland meet its aggressive energy efficiency and conservation goals, enhance the services it provides its customers as well as add jobs, both direct and indirect, as a result of the implementation of its smart grid.
