WASHINGTON--()--Layer 7 Technologies, the leader in security and governance for SOA and cloud, today announced that its SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway has been awarded the highest Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 ALC_FLR.2 (EAL4+) certification of any XML Gateway to date from the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). Layer 7 is one of only two companies after IBM in its industry that has achieved NIAP Common Criteria certification. Layer 7, however, is alone in meeting the augmented defense and intelligence community specifications contained in ALC_FLR 2.2.
“EAL4+ certification provides assurance to government agencies and organizations protecting mission-critical assets that Layer 7’s XML Networking Gateway meets strict security criteria”
The EAL4+ credential extends Layer 7’s leadership in security that now includes STIG Assurance testing, FIPS in software, hardware and cloud and elliptical curve support.
Government agencies and private enterprises requiring EAL4+ certification can now benefit from Layer 7’s market-leading security, monitoring and control capabilities for on-premise and cloud-based web service applications. EAL4+ certification is the highest security standard existing commercial product lines can receive, and indicates that a product is rigorously engineered to a high degree of quality. The Common Criteria and EAL levels were created to improve security for sensitive government networks, and many government agencies today require network security solutions to achieve at least EAL4+ certification; higher EAL levels like EAL4+ increase end-users’ confidence that the system's principal security features are reliably implemented.
“EAL4+ certification provides assurance to government agencies and organizations protecting mission-critical assets that Layer 7’s XML Networking Gateway meets strict security criteria,” said Adam Vincent, Public Sector CTO at Layer 7. “With our EAL4 ALC_FLR.2 certification we chose to set a new benchmark for security assurance so that government entities can rely on Layer 7’s stringent governance, security and policy enforcement in the most demanding deployments, whether they’re on-premise or in the cloud.”
Layer 7’s SecureSpan XML Networking Gateway combines identity-based access and federation control, message security, service mediation, service virtualization and SLA enforcement, delivering an effective governance, federated ESB and cross-domain solution for integrations that span agencies, departments and cloud.
EAL4+ is the latest addition to Layer 7’s long list of industry certifications, which include: Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) in software and hardware; Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Vulnerability Testing; FAA/System Wide Information Management (SWIM); DoD Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) Security; DoD Public Key Establishment; Joint DoD/IC Service Security Working Group; Elliptic Curve Cryptography on XML; and Joint DoD/IC Enterprise Service Monitoring.
