NASCAR Driver Tells Students to Drive Safely!

RALEIGH, N.C.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Today, Nationwide Insurance teamed up with NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Colin Braun and Petty Safe Driving to help Raleigh-area high school students understand the dangers of driving while distracted and the need for them to be safe drivers.

Today’s two-hour program at Knightdale High School helped students explore ways to focus on safe driving. Students learned skills in a classroom setting and then went out into the parking lot to practice what they learned.

“I am proud to team up with Nationwide Insurance and Petty Safe Driving to help educate students on the importance of being focused behind the wheel,” said Colin Braun, driver of the No. 16 Con-way Freight Ford Fusion. “It’s so important that every driver keep focused on the road in front of them. Knightdale High students learned skills today to help them become defensive drivers.”

The real driving experience tested the students’ driving skills by giving them a chance to practice-how to respond in dangerous situations. They also learned skills to help them manage through hazardous driving situations, including modules on straight line braking and crash avoidance.

Nationwide Insurance brought Sorenson to speak to the young drivers so they could highlight that safe driving is important to everyone, even professional drivers.
