WESTLAND, Mich.--()--The Jackson & Lansing Railroad Company (J&LRR), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road Company, (A&BRR) a Michigan-based company, has acquired 47 miles of track from Jackson, MI to Lansing, MI from Norfolk Southern Railway Company.
“Our Revenues for 2010 are on pace to exceed last year. The new addition of track capacity is expected to help the company grow even more.”
The Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road operates number of freight and dinner train companies in Southeastern Michigan including the Old Road Blissfield Dinner Train, the oldest operating dinner train in the U.S., plus the Old Road Dinner Train Charlotte.
Mark Dobronski, A&B RR and J&LRR president, announced the expansion of its operation.
The transfer of track was approved by the Surface Transportation Board.
“The Adrian & Blissfield has shown growth in its freight business in the past two years from the previous year,” Dobronski said. “Our Revenues for 2010 are on pace to exceed last year. The new addition of track capacity is expected to help the company grow even more.”
With its corporate headquarters in Westland, MI just outside Detroit, the Adrian & Blissfield Rail Road Company consists of the parent company and four rail road companies. The Adrian and Blissfield provides freight service in Lenawee County and operates The Old Road Dinner Train in Blissfield (MI). The Charlotte Southern Railroad Company provides freight service in Eaton County plus The Old Road Dinner Train in Charlotte (MI). The Detroit Connecting Railroad Company provides freight service in Eastern Wayne County and the Lapeer Industrial Railroad Company provides freight service in Lapeer County.
Both the Old Road Dinner Train Blissfield and the Old Road Dinner Train Charlotte offer weekend Dinner Train Service that includes a five course dinner, a comedy murder mystery and a cash bar along with variety of Special Trains such as Santa Trains during December.
