Interpress Technologies, Inc. Introduces CanNester A.D. High Barrier Paperboard Containers with Breakthrough SeamSeal Technology

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Interpress Technologies, a national leader in formed paperboard packaging, is launching CanNester A.D. (Atmospheric Defense) at PACK EXPO Booth #S-1091 Oct. 31 – Nov. 3, 2010. Utilizing Interpress’ NEW SeamSeal technology, CanNester A.D. high-barrier containers offer a paper-based packaging option for many food products which have historically been confined to plastic, foil or glass packaging due to shelf-life requirements. SeamSeal technology is a revolutionary process which improves shelf-life by sealing the raw edge of the inner seam, preventing migration of moisture, grease and oxygen.

In 2000, Interpress Technologies introduced the original CanNester, an innovative tapered non-round container which provided a cost-efficient sustainable packaging solution with superior shelf presentation. The CanNester reduced package weight by printing high-impact graphics directly onto a single-wall container, and dramatically improved shipping efficiencies due to the nestable design. CanNester A.D. containers offer all of the benefits of the original CanNester while offering advanced product protection.

Interpress Technologies will also be the printer and converter for the MWV Snack Container, a customizable paperboard-based alternative to composite cans. The patented high barrier polymer coating by MWV works with Interpress’ SeamSeal technology to offer a hermetically sealable paper package without any foil lining. The final product is a package that is lighter in package weight and more efficient to produce.

CanNester A.D. high barrier packaging applications include shelf stable meals, nuts, fruits, cereals, chocolates, confections, and snack products. Available board coatings include:

• Polyethylene for moderate moisture / grease hold-out
• Polypropylene for advanced moisture / grease hold-out or microwavability
• MWV Barrier Board for superior oxygen and moisture barrier
