CHICAGO--()--Tap.Me, creators of the groundbreaking advertising platform that focuses on gameplay, today announced that redbox will be the first of many brands to take advantage of its iOS in-game advertising platform. Designed by gamers for gamers, Tap.Me turns in-game achievements into real-world rewards for consumers, without disrupting gameplay.
“Adding a mobile gaming component via the Tap.Me platform is a natural extension of our marketing strategy. It allows us to generate brand awareness with gamers where they’re already playing, without interrupting their experience.”
First introduced at the 2011 Game Developers Conference, Tap.Me’s mobile advertising platform allows game developers to wrap key game functions in branded rewards without taking the gamer out of the action. For redbox, who’ll be launching video game rentals at more than 21,000 kiosk locations nationwide on June 17, the Tap.Me mobile advertising solution will provide gamers with instantaneous redbox “power up” offers in the palms of their hands. And with over 30 million gamers in the mobile market today, there’s no shortage of consumers to connect with.
“Redbox is a leader in the home entertainment industry, and with their upcoming launch of video games, we’re ready to provide them with a unique new way to connect with their customers,” said Joshua Hernandez, CEO of Tap.Me. “This program is a testament to redbox’s forward thinking and ability to leverage trends as we move into a new age of consumer-brand communication.”
“Through our iPhone and Android apps and an expansive SMS list, redbox now has more than 6.2 million touch points with our consumers via their mobile devices,” said Gary Cohen, SVP of Marketing and Customer Experience at redbox. “Adding a mobile gaming component via the Tap.Me platform is a natural extension of our marketing strategy. It allows us to generate brand awareness with gamers where they’re already playing, without interrupting their experience.”
iPhone® and iPad® gamers can participate through Tap.Me’s ever-expanding network of games, including hit mobile games like Kitten Cannon, Retro Revolution 2 and Charmed, already played by millions. In the future, redbox customers will have the opportunity to earn real-world rewards through fun and fast-paced mobile gaming sessions. Players who earn rewards will also have the option to share their branded achievements with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
