NEW YORK--()--Ziff Davis, one of the nation's leading technology media companies, today announced the appointment of Joey Fortuna as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer. Fortuna brings more than 20 years of experience to this role, and will lead the technology vision for Ziff Davis and oversee its practical application in all product development efforts moving forward.

Fortuna has been building and managing systems for content generation and data processing since the early 90’s, and has substantial knowledge in software engineering, data services, analytics, product support and quality assurance. He has direct experience with complex data-driven systems as well as content engines for entertainment and social media.
Joey joins Ziff Davis from VINDICO Group, the first ad-serving and tracking platform dedicated exclusively to video, where he served as the company’s Senior Vice President, Engineering. VINDICO sold to Specific Media in 2010. Prior to that, Fortuna was the Chief Technology Officer of Fameball, Inc., a website dedicated to celebrity gaming. He’s also held technology roles at Quigo, which later sold to AOL, and Ballenger Group. Fortuna holds patents on a number of algorithmic techniques for data mining and quantitative analysis.

Fortuna is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he studied English. He also has a Masters degree in Computer Science from Columbia University. He will report directly to the COO.
