The Phoenix Foundation Donates $25,000 to Cardiac Care Family Support Charity Harboring Hearts

NEW YORK--()--The Phoenix Foundation, the charitable organization founded by leading interdealer broker Phoenix Partners Group, today announced that it has donated $25,000 to Harboring Hearts, a New York City-based charity that provides housing and emotional support to locally hospitalized cardiac care patients and their families.

“Harboring Hearts is providing much-needed financial assistance and compassion to families of seriously ill loved ones at a time of great need, and we are very proud to be able to help them in their mission”

Harboring Hearts is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides affordable, temporary housing for heart transplant and cardiac patients receiving treatment in local New York City hospitals and medical facilities. As reported by the American Heart Association, more than 2,200 Americans die of cardiovascular disease every day; that's an average of one death every 39 seconds. Indeed, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. The cost of heart surgery or related treatment can be prohibitive, with a single procedure costing anywhere from $30,000 to more than $450,000. Yet, half of heart patients and their families make less than $50,000 in annual income. Harboring Hearts seeks to provide a measure of financial and emotional support for the families facing such cardiac care-related costs and financial stress.

"Harboring Hearts is providing much-needed financial assistance and compassion to families of seriously ill loved ones at a time of great need, and we are very proud to be able to help them in their mission," said Akasha Absher, president of The Phoenix Foundation.

In addition to today's announced financial support, The Phoenix Foundation and employees of Phoenix Partners Group provided in-kind assistance at Harboring Hearts "Summer Fete" fundraiser earlier this month.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION

The Phoenix Foundation is in the process of applying to the I.R.S. to be recognized as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will apply to be registered with the State of New York Attorney General’s Charities Bureau as a charitable organization. Launched by leading interdealer broker Phoenix Partners Group (www.phoenixpartnersgroup.com), the Foundation provides financial assistance, such as direct donations, grants, and scholarships, and other support to underfunded local charities where the Foundation deems it can have a meaningful impact on the quality and continuation of the services and programs those charities provide. While any qualifying charity may be considered, the Foundation is keenly interested in those dedicated to helping underserved groups, namely underprivileged children, at-risk teens, and the elderly.
