Who: |
Huron Consulting Group today announced a Huron Life Sciences webinar on the Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) new financial conflict of interest (FCOI) rules and the implications for research institutions. |
What: |
DHHS’ updated FCOI rules promote objectivity in research and make compliance more straightforward and structured. The rules, which must be implemented by August 24, 2012, could have a significant impact on research institutions. These institutions must now create a plan to update their policies and processes accordingly, and may need to use electronic (e-COI) management systems to optimize their ability to comply with the new regulations.
| The Huron Life Sciences webinar will help research organizations take action to comply with the major changes in the new FCOI rules, including: | ||
• A new definition of “investigator” which extends the requirement for disclosure of significant outside interests to members of the research team who traditionally are not considered to be investigators. |
• A new requirement for the disclosure of all significant financial interests related to the totality of an individual’s “institutional responsibilities.” |
• More stringent requirements for disclosure and FCOI management by sub-awardees, contractors and consultants. |
• Requiring substantial information related to all identified FCOIs to be posted on an institution’s Web site, or provided within 5 business days in response to inquiries. |
• Requiring new and continuous training for investigators. |
When: |
Friday, September 16, at 12:00 p.m. CT.
