REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--()--6connect, the first network automation platform to help usher in IPv6, today, announced the integration of its platform into the RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens) RESTful web services API; an industry first.
“Leveraging the APIs published by global RIRs saves IP administrators, our clients, days and sometimes weeks of troubleshooting and manually processing both requests and registrations of IP Addresses”
The 6connect platform automates manual Internet Protocol Address Management (IPAM) tasks to simplify operations, increase security and support network efficiency. Building on the momentum of delivering the first integration into American Registry for Internet Numbers’ (ARIN) RESTful Web Services API, 6connect is now the only company to have successfully integrated their product into any of the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs).
“The RIPE NCC released a RESTful web service API in 2010 based on community feedback highlighting the need for an improved, well-defined software interface for the RIPE Database,” said Andrew de la Haye, Chief Operations Officer of the RIPE NCC. “We are pleased that community members like 6connect have found this API to be useful.”
Leading Innovations and Integrations for RIRs
Network managers and IP administrators are adopting automation tools as the market seeks to simplify workloads, streamline transitions and lower overall costs.
6connect’s full integration with RIRs allow IP Analysts and Network Administrators to quickly request IP blocks, SWIP IP assignments, and reduce administrative overhead by removing the need for legacy email templates. For 2012, 6connect is on track to complete integration with all five RIRs.
“Leveraging the APIs published by global RIRs saves IP administrators, our clients, days and sometimes weeks of troubleshooting and manually processing both requests and registrations of IP Addresses,” said Pete Sclafani, CIO and co-founder of 6connect. “We listen carefully to our client needs and this was consistent - between emails and phone calls across time zones, it could take weeks to update IP information. By working directly with the API, you can now do it in real time no matter which RIR you are working with.”
Availability
6connect 3.1 with the integration to the RIPE Database and ARIN RESTful Web Services will be released in a Winter 2011 rollout on December 30th.
