PORTLAND, Ore.--()--Smarsh, the managed service leader in secure, innovative and reliable email archiving and compliance solutions, is conducting its second annual survey on the opinions of financial services compliance professionals regarding the retention and oversight of electronic communications, including email, instant messaging, social media, and mobile messaging. The survey will help illuminate the compliance community’s attitudes toward electronic recordkeeping, supervision and data protection obligations as detailed in regulations such as SEC 17a-4, FINRA 3010 and 3110, and 204-2 of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
“With an increasingly demanding and sophisticated regulatory environment, this research will give compliance officers insight into how their peers are adapting to comprehensively meet these challenges.”
“Our inaugural survey in 2011 illustrated the growing burden for compliance professionals stemming from the emerging challenges of electronic communications such as social media, and the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace,” said Stephen Marsh, founder and CEO of Smarsh. “With an increasingly demanding and sophisticated regulatory environment, this research will give compliance officers insight into how their peers are adapting to comprehensively meet these challenges.”
Compliance professionals are encouraged to take the survey at www.smarsh.com/compliancesurvey. For each qualified registrant, Smarsh will make a charitable donation to the respondent’s choice of four children’s organizations. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and all answers remain anonymous and will only be analyzed in aggregate. A report of the key findings from the survey will be issued by Smarsh in spring 2012.
