LOS ANGELES--()--More than 30 patients and their families at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles recently took part in an interactive music session with vocalist and songwriter, Seal.
On January 25, more than 30 patients and their families at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles took part in an interactive music session with vocalist and songwriter, Seal. The Grammy Award-winner and father of four performed several songs for the patients, who joined in with shakers, tambourines, drums and other instruments. Seal visited with patients and staff for several hours, supporting the hospital’s Music Therapists in their efforts to engage patients in music and self-expression, an important part of the healing process. Music Therapy and other forms of creative arts are offered by the hospital’s Mark Taper Johnny Mercer Artists Program, an innovative model that partners artists in the community with licensed creative therapists, who help patients build coping skills and explore thoughts and feelings related to hospitalization and illness.
