MTU Onsite Energy to Introduce New 50 kW Standby Power Module for Fast Rollout to Cell Sites

Compact, integrated generator package features simple installation to reduce overall project costs.

NEW ORLEANS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--A new 50 kW integrated standby power module from the Tognum subsidiary MTU Onsite Energy will be unveiled today at the International CTIA Wireless show, booth #5013. This powerful new tool for the telecommunications industry is specially designed for easy installation and operation at remote cell sites.

The 50 kW module’s plug-and-play usability eliminates many typical contractor interconnections, reducing installation time from a week or more to as little as one day. With an integral automatic transfer switch for load transfer and a compact footprint of 110 inches by 40 inches, the 50 kW module is ideal for use at single-carrier cell sites.

The standby power module is a fully integrated system, including a generator and an automatic transfer switch control package, complete with remote alarm monitoring capabilities and pre-wired connections that save contractor time and eliminate unwanted field variables during installation.

The package includes an MTU Onsite Energy 200-amp automatic transfer switch mounted on the rear of the enclosure, along with a completely enclosed diesel engine and fuel tank. The enclosure is sound-attenuated and built to withstand winds of up to 150 mph. The entire unit’s small footprint allows the use of readily available, pre-formed concrete pads to further simplify installation.

The versatile 200-amp full load emergency standby rating and 48-hour double-wall fuel tank help ensure reliable power even during extended utility outages. In addition, comprehensive site monitoring enables users to closely monitor the remote power modules from anywhere in the world via Modbus communication.
