New website bolsters community participation and awareness

The new IAVI.org communicates the not-for-profit organization’s mission to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive HIV vaccines for use throughout the world. The revitalized online channel equips the research community, media professionals, potential employees, advocates and donors, with the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the efforts of IAVI and its partners. This sustainable and scalable website will help bolster community engagement and raise awareness for AIDS vaccine research and development.

IAVI required an interactive site that allowed non-technical users to manage the online presence with ease, ensured accessibility across all devices, and was scalable for future needs. IAVI also needed to better represent the organization’s work while providing a path for visitors to quickly locate information.

Perficient provided the technical infrastructure for the new website utilizing Microsoft SharePoint, implementing a manageable platform with robust search functionality and enterprise content management capabilities. The platform empowers content contributors to add, edit, and publish content without assistance from IT. Through an improved workflow and reduction in manual efforts, IAVI effectively shortens time-to-market for content.

Key features of the new website include:

• A custom developed interactive map that displays IAVI’s globe-spanning network of scientific partnerships, government and civil society partnerships, advocacy partners with allied organizations, and IAVI’s office locations.
• A robust Information Center containing publications, press releases, and events with the most accurate information relating to IAVI and its partners efforts in the field of HIV vaccine research and development.
• A redesigned homepage with rotating features and YouTube video integration. The web part displays four embedded IAVI video clips directly from the organization’s YouTube channel.

In addition to IAVI.org, Perficient worked with IAVI to develop websites on the SharePoint platform for the organization’s scientific publications, IAVI Report and VAX Report. IAVI Report is an independent scientific journal, providing comprehensive coverage of the AIDS vaccine R&D field from the latest research, as well as policy, advocacy, and community perspectives.
