WASHINGTON--()--Now in the sixth week of its BEE MAD @ THE GOP campaign, the Union of Unemployed (UCubed) sent a pointed message to delegates leaving the 2012 Republican National Convention: “BEEWARE OF THE BUZZ.”
“Swarming bees scare elephants witless. Odd as that may seem, even the sound of bees buzzing can stampede an entire herd of pachyderms. Scientists in Africa use recordings of bees buzzing to protect villages from marauding elephants.”
“For 138 years, the GOP mascot has been the elephant. Now, finally, it has met its match: the worker bee,” said UCubed Executive Director Rick Sloan. “Swarming bees scare elephants witless. Odd as that may seem, even the sound of bees buzzing can stampede an entire herd of pachyderms. Scientists in Africa use recordings of bees buzzing to protect villages from marauding elephants.”
“At UCubed, we are having a little fun at the GOP’s expense,” says Sloan, “All those millions spent on convention programming and attack ads are little more than the bellowing of elephants who hear an approaching swarm. They can never forget how much bee stings hurt.”

“So far, our BEE MAD @ THE GOP campaign on Facebook has 89 million impressions and has seen over 900,000 fans engaged,” said Sloan. “Every day over 30,000 UCubed fans like or share a post with their friends. Facebook stock prices may have plummeted, but its social networking technology is enabling worker bees to laugh at their lot in life. And it is creating a swarm of angry voters intent on handing the GOP a stinging defeat.”
With over 115,000 activists who regularly connect with over 30 million Facebook friends, UCubed represents a significant demographic in the upcoming elections. UCubed was formed to assist the millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans, and to provide a structure that allows them to take advantage of their growing numbers.
