BERLIN--()--More than 1,000 leading representatives of industry, business, science and politics from home and abroad will be attending the opening event of the InnoTrans 2012. The ceremonies marking the opening of the leading international fair for transport technology will be taking place on 18 September at the Palais am Funkturm in Berlin. The opening event will be presented by the television presenter Astrid Frohloff.

Among those who have agreed to take part are Siim Kallas, Vice President of the EU Commission, Germany’s Federal Minister of Transport Dr. Peter Ramsauer and numerous other transport ministers and senior executives of railway manufacturers and transport companies from Germany and foreign countries.
“Innovations & Growth – Global Growth Potential in Rail Transport” is the title of this year’s panel discussion. Apart from the leading politicians mentioned above, other participants in a series of rounds of discussions will be the President of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), Jürgen Fenske, and the Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bahn, Dr. Rüdiger Grube. Among the industry representatives taking part in the panel discussion will be Henri Poupart-Lafarge, President of Alstom Transport, André Navarri, President of Bombardier Transportation, and the CEO of Siemens Mobility Division, Dr. Hans-Jörg Grundmann.
