Joe’s Crab Shack Joins Effort to End Childhood Hunger in America

Month-long fundraising campaign to benefit Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 16 million children in America live in households that struggle to put food on the table, according to the USDA. In September, Joe’s Crab Shack joins Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign to end childhood hunger.

As a national partner of Share Our Strength, Joe’s has participated in the annual Dine Out for No Kid Hungry™ event since its inception in 2008. Last year, Joe’s was the leading fundraiser, donating more than $700,000 to the organization.

Joe’s restaurant managers are integral to the success of the fundraising efforts, hosting unique events in the many communities Joe’s calls home. Last year Scott Richards, general manager of the Joe’s Crab Shack in Oceanside, Calif., witnessed the excitement first hand. “Everyone in our restaurant – from employees to guests, and even our guests’ children, were involved in the fundraiser. It was amazing – our employees made sure everyone who walked in the door knew about Share our Strength’s goal to end childhood hunger and our guests donated thousands of dollars to the cause.”

Starting Sept. 1, guests at Joe’s can donate to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign and in return receive valuable coupons. For every $1 donation, guests receive a free slice of Key Lime Pie; with a $5 donation, a free order of Crab Nachos; and with a $10 donation, a free Classic Steampot. The certificates are valid only with the purchase of an entrée and are redeemable for three months starting Oct. 1.

This year, guests can also donate to the No Kid Hungry campaign by visiting Joe’s website, where they will receive an online receipt redeemable for the item corresponding to the donation amount.
