Fresenius Medical Care CKD Data Registry Largest Nephrology Provider for Fourth Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fresenius Medical Care Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Data Registry, Acumen PQRS™, is the largest nephrology-specific registry for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), adding more than 700 new registry users in 2011 alone.

As one of the nation’s largest CMS-qualified reporting services for physicians who participate in the federal government’s clinical quality reporting initiative, Acumen PQRS serves as a portal for reporting medical practice information to CMS.

The Physician Quality Reporting System is a program designed to elevate the quality of information reported by health care professionals. The program uses both incentives and penalties to ensure quality reporting. Beginning in 2015, participation in quality reporting will be required of all eligible professionals, enforced with a payment adjustment.
