HOUSTON--()--The 2012 Houston CFO/Controller Conference hosted by the CFO/Controller Conference Committee of the Houston CPA Society will be held September 21, 2012 at the Marriott Houston Westchase.
“Low Man on the Totem Pole: How I Became a White Collar Criminal.”
The focus of the conference is to provide CFOs and Controllers with direction on addressing current challenges within their respective organizations. CFOs and Controllers will receive 9 hours of CPE credit attending presentations by lawyers, executives, information technology professionals, and other field experts discuss everything from teamwork, employment law, technology, and a panel discussion on risk management from some of the top risk management and insurance professionals in the city.
Helen Sharkey; former Dynegy employee is the keynote speaker. She will discuss her involvement in “Project Alpha” in her presentation, “Low Man on the Totem Pole: How I Became a White Collar Criminal.” She will speak out on her experience for the first time ever at this year’s CFO/Controller Conference. Ms. Sharkey was charged with conspiracy, securities fraud, mail fraud, and wire fraud and spent 30 days in jail and paid a $10,000 fine for her involvement in “Project Alpha”, a $300 million structured finance transaction. Come hear her firsthand account of the case and learn more about the potential exposures present in all levels within an organization.
