National Cyber Security Hall of Fame releases Final Nominees for Inaugural Class

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame (NCSHOF) announced that 24 individuals were nominated and confirmed by the Board of Advisors and peers for consideration for the 2012 enshrinement class. This group is a result of over 250 nominations from leaders in the cyber security industry and a subsequent evaluation by the Board of Advisors. Beginning in 2012 and in each of the next ten years, a number of individuals will be enshrined in the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame at a black tie event recognizing and celebrating their contributions to the evolution of the cyber security industry.

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame was created to “Respect the Past-Protect the Future” and build the educational awareness around those individuals that have created significant advancements in Cyber Security in the areas of technology, policy, business, education and public awareness. The first class will be enshrined on October 17, 2012 at the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame event at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, where they will be honored for their innovation, vision and leadership, which created the foundational building blocks for the Cyber Security Industry.

As part of the 10 year program, the National Cyber Security Hall of Fame will release an interactive timeline application on IPAD and tablet that will be used to tell the history (Respect the Past) of the cyber security industry and roles these individuals played in its development. The timeline will highlight the future advancement of the industry, highlighting technologies and people that will “Protect the Future.”

The nominees be considered for this year’s (2012) nomination and selection process are:

Dorothy Denning, Roger Schell, Peter Neumann, Carl Landwehr, Ron Rivest, Adi Shamir, Len Adelman (RSA), Alan Paller, Willis Ware, James Bidzos, Bruce Schneier, Whit Diffie, Martin Hellman, Ralph Merkle, Ron Ross, Vint Cerf, Jim Anderson, John Thompson, Matt Bishop, Roger Needham, Howard Schmidt, Dan Kaminsky, Lynn McNulty, and Dan Geer.

The 2012 National Cyber Security Hall of Fame class will be named by September 15, 2012.
