RF IDeas Adds New Capabilities to pcProx® and pcProx Plus Product Family

Proximity and Contactless Smart Card Readers to integrate HID iCLASS SE™ enabled technology and NFC capabilities

ASIS International 2012

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill.--()--RF IDeas, Inc., a leading manufacturer of in-building identification and access readers, announced that starting in fourth quarter of 2012 pcProx and pcProx Plus brand readers will offer the option to include HID iCLASS SE™ Secure Identity Object™ (SIO™) technology as well as Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities.

“The addition of both SIO and NFC ensures that regardless of credential technology, we offer reader solutions that are flexible, configurable, and most importantly, secure.”

For customers moving to SIO within the HID iCLASS SE platform, RF IDeas pcProx and pcProx Plus readers will allow customers to utilize next generation credential features such as layered encryption, digital signatures and diversified keys. These new security elements create a more secure credential which when paired with a reader, enables proof of user identity and proof that the data on the credential has not been altered. These features will be beneficial to iCLASS SE users in all market segments.

Built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities offer customers readers that will identify credentials located in any number of different devices. No longer will credentials have to exist as stand-alone cards and tokens. Using NFC technology, employee phones and devices can be used for authentication and access.

“These technology advancements give our customers reader options that take advantage of the most up-to-date security and access features in the market,” says Rick Landuyt, President of RF IDeas. “The addition of both SIO and NFC ensures that regardless of credential technology, we offer reader solutions that are flexible, configurable, and most importantly, secure.”

The RF IDeas line of pcProx and pcProx Plus card readers currently supports over 40 different types of proximity (125 kHz) and contactless (13.56 MHz) credentials. The addition of HID iCLASS SE and NFC capabilities creates a powerful and versatile ecosystem for all RF IDeas customers.

RF IDeas will showcase both of these latest capabilities, along with other RF IDeas proximity and contactless smart card technologies, at ASIS 2012 show, September 10-12 in Philadelphia, PA. Visit RF IDeas in booth number 3225.

*These product features are not yet offered for sale pending FCC approval.
