MINNEAPOLIS--()--Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, is partnering with the YWCA to host a volunteer event on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to beautify the YWCA’s Central Carolinas’ Women in Transition program. Kirsten Sikkelee, CEO of YWCA’s Central Carolinas, will join Capella students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to benefit the Women in Transition program, which provides affordable housing and life-skills training for single women. This is one of several volunteer events that Capella has hosted in the past couple of years to help those less fortunate. Past events have taken place in locations such as San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, and Seattle.
The YWCA is a featured nonprofit for Capella’s Inspire Giving program, and is also an education alliance partner for the online university. Under the alliance, YWCA employees and their immediate family members** are eligible for reduced tuition at Capella.
The event is taking place in conjunction with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Annual Conference (AAMFT), where Capella will have two faculty members, Sheila Addison, PhD, and Mike Bishop, PhD, presenting.

** Immediate family members of Florida employees are not eligible to receive tuition discounts. Members of the employee’s immediate family include employee’s spouse or domestic partner and unmarried children of employee, spouse or domestic partner.
