DALLAS--()--Airband Communications, the largest fixed-wireless voice and data provider for businesses in the U.S., is completing a significant round of capital improvements designed to future-proof its core network in the face of growing demand for its high-quality voice and data services.
“We are upgrading our network because there’s a quantum leap coming in the kinds of high-speed services we can deliver over our fixed-wireless network, and that creates tremendous long-term opportunities for Airband and our customers”
Recent capital expenditures allow Airband to deploy next-generation radio technologies, upgrade national backhaul circuit capacities, and expand the use of high-capacity network equipment. The broad range of network enhancements is designed to manage current demand for Airband’s voice and data services while preparing for much greater capacity that will be needed as Airband continues to expand its array of voice services.
“We are upgrading our network because there’s a quantum leap coming in the kinds of high-speed services we can deliver over our fixed-wireless network, and that creates tremendous long-term opportunities for Airband and our customers,” said Airband CEO Michael Ruley. “Both existing and new customers are asking for higher bandwidth connections as their business applications evolve. Airband’s ability to provide scalable pipes that can deliver faster-than-fiber transit speeds is meeting this demand. Airband’s financial strength enables us to continually invest in our infrastructure and our people, which will only bring more benefits to our customers. Ongoing capital investments are at the heart of Airband’s long-term growth strategy.”
As part of the upgrade strategy, Airband is adding a new voice-services hub in Scottsdale, Ariz., where Airband has a significant market presence. The strong growth of Airband’s voice business prompted the company to open another voice hub, creating additional redundancy and resiliency due to the geographic diversity of its Scottsdale and Dallas voice hubs.
Airband’s network upgrades also include enhanced voice platforms and an increased focus on transitioning its circuits to more Ethernet-based infrastructure. The company has also deepened strategic relationships with its Internet peering partners, significantly increasing capacity with them.
“We are making smart investments in people, equipment and a variety of wireless technologies because we expect to broaden our portfolio of high-bandwidth services as market demand for affordable, high-quality voice and data communications continues to grow,” said Mike Jaffe, Airband’s national VP of network engineering.
Airband serves 17 markets across the U.S. including Atlanta; Austin; Baltimore; Dallas; Des Moines; Fort Lauderdale; Fort Worth; Houston; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; Orange County, Calif.; Philadelphia; Phoenix; San Antonio; San Diego and Washington, D.C.
