SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Arista Networks today announced that Avid Technology has qualified Arista Networks switches for ISIS media network deployments. The Arista 7048T-A switch was selected because of its high performance, low latency and industry-best buffer capacity - all critical attributes for file-based media creation and editing.
“Avid empowers its customers to achieve their creative vision in a multitude of forms”
Avid’s professional video and audio editing technology places heavy demands on the underlying networking infrastructure. The system must be capable of supporting seamless ingest, edit and playback of high-resolution video/audio to hundreds of clients in real-time without any delays, data loss or performance limitations. The Avid ISIS shared storage architecture delivers block data to all connected clients simultaneously and performs best with a network that can buffer large amounts of data with predictable low-latency delivery. Arista switches enable Avid customers to achieve the optimal level of system performance, supporting the most demanding, agile workflows for everything from movies and music to breaking broadcast news.
“Avid empowers its customers to achieve their creative vision in a multitude of forms,” said Alan Hoff, director of Media Enterprise at Avid. “Their success depends on our ability to support them with innovative technology and this requires a network that we can consistently depend on. Arista was certified with this commitment to our customers in mind.”
The Arista 7048T-A is a wire-speed layer 2/3 switch with 48 x 1000 Mbps copper ports and four 1/10Gb Ethernet uplinks delivering up to 40 gigabits of upstream interconnect capacity to scale in the most demanding studio environments. The Avid ISIS 7000 and ISIS 5000 media networks serve editing workgroups with ultra-low latency and linearly scalable throughput from 400 MB/sec. to 4.8 GB/sec., and 16TB to 1.53PB of raw capacity. Unique to Avid is the patented 64-byte self-balancing, distributed ISIS file system that provides the creative customer true real time media access to as many as 330 simultaneous editing sessions.
