DETAILS:
The privileged user is granted extraordinary rights to access sensitive applications and information, but distinguishing unauthorized from legitimate activities is very difficult when a user has all the required credentials and access rights to sensitive data. Worse yet, personal webmail, social media, and purpose-built outlets (i.e. WikiLeaks) provide insiders the ability to anonymously compromise information more efficiently than ever before. Deterring the insider threat requires total visibility and control of a privileged user’s activities in their full risk context, without limiting or impeding legitimate uses. In this presentation, Bill Munroe, Vice President of Marketing at Verdasys, will analyze some highly publicized data theft cases and utilize customer best practices to offer organizations in the oil and natural gas industry and beyond a view into successful and cost-effective programs that successfully mitigate the risk of insider threats, including lessons they all learned in the process of developing data security programs.
