Australian Planners Conquer Network Distance with Silver Peak Software

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Perth, Australia-based planning practice Greg Rowe and Associates (GRA) has overcome the challenges of distance by using software from Silver Peak to ensure fast and reliable communication between its remote offices across Western Australia, and to accelerate data replication for disaster recovery.

Offering services crucial to Australia’s mineral resources boom, GRA’s business was being hampered by a slow, unreliable network. Owing to the physical limitations of satellite networks and the vast distances involved, data transfers were taking too long, with an unacceptable degree of latency.

The company’s wide area network (WAN) connects offices in Mandurah, Geraldton, Port Hedland and the fly-in-fly-out town of Karratha, 1,538 kilometers (km) from the company’s head office. GRA sought a way to speed up the network and increase reliability.
