CHICAGO--()--SpringCM®, the leader in cloud content services, today announced its latest release, which features new mobile device management (MDM) capabilities that enable companies to limit the risks of using personal devices for file sharing. Organizations can now control which devices are allowed to store content without affecting personal apps or content. They can also safely wipe files from devices that are lost or used by former employees.
“When it comes to working with content anytime, anywhere, SpringCM gives business people unmatched capabilities and organizations unmatched control.”
Eighty-three percent of organizations allow personal devices to be used for business, up from only 10 percent in 2008, according to research by Aberdeen Group in BYOD in the SoMoClo Era (Aug 2012). Each employee is also using more devices, 64% percent using from three to five devices each [Source: TechValidate. TVID: 5BF-044-25A]. These two factors make centralized on-premise Enterprise Content Management (ECM) products increasingly irrelevant when work is done anytime, anywhere. To address this gap, SpringCM Sync’s MDM features deliver a single view to track content, limit access to selected files and remotely wipe content across all or some of a user’s devices, including work and home desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
The new release builds on the release of SpringCM Sync features in July 2012 that gave organizations control over which content can and cannot be synced — and to selectively wipe specific content across all devices — based on file, folder or attribute such as type of document.
“While it makes businesses more productive and responsive, the explosion of using personal devices creates a hazard for CIOs, with valuable enterprise content being unmanaged on lost devices and former employees’ home laptops and iPads,” said Christopher Junker, CEO, SpringCM. “When it comes to working with content anytime, anywhere, SpringCM gives business people unmatched capabilities and organizations unmatched control.”
Additional capabilities in the release include:
- SpringCM Scan – faster use of attributes to automatically organize scanned documents
- SpringCM Edit – simpler to edit documents with a new feature providing a single click to open and edit any document in a desktop application, including offline support to start editing in office, finish at home
- Upload – easier to get documents into SpringCM with new drag-and-drop of files directly from your desktop into a SpringCM folder
