AMSTERDAM--()--MultiPhy Ltd, a global leader in DSP-based high bandwidth CMOS communications semiconductors, today announced the development of the first 100G Coherent DSP Transceiver, specifically targeted at the Metro Coherent marketplace.

With the growing demand for 4G services, high-speed data services, video streaming, and new high bandwidth applications, a need exists to grow the capacity of the transport DWDM networks in the Metro zones. While existing solutions are primarily targeted to serve Long Haul, the Metro Transport 100G marketplace has been underserved. This market is characterized by shorter reaches than Long Haul, stricter limitations on system cooling issues, and the desire for an inexpensive pluggable optical module solution. MultiPhy’s efforts in the development of their Metro Coherent device target these three vectors.
Based on superior DSP architecture and state-of-the-art A/D interfaces, MultiPhy’s Metro Coherent offering will utilize a patent-pending technology (“1 sample per symbol with MLSE”) that will provide the lowest power Metro Coherent transceiver device in the industry. “We continue to focus our efforts on providing the best solutions for the Metro 100G market, utilizing our strong partnerships, and our own innovative technology to address the cost and power needs of the market” said Avi Shabtai, CEO of MultiPhy.
