“This year marks our 5th anniversary and we’re so proud of all our successes, including expanding from two brands selling 30,000 cases in 2007 to four brands with sales reaching 350,000 cases this year”
Cecchetti Wine Company is on pace to sell a record 350,000 cases in 2012, which would continue its double-digit growth performance for a fifth consecutive year. As of the year-to-date through August 31, the company’s sales increased 40% compared to this same time period in 2011. Leading the charge is Backhouse with a sales increase of 130 percent, followed by Line 39 with an increase of 32 percent, and Redtree at 26 percent increase year-over-year.
As a result of this success, Cecchetti Wine Company was selected to the Inc. 500|5000; a list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. This is the second consecutive year they’ve made the list and the fifth time founder Roy Cecchetti has lead a company selected for this prestigious award. Additionally, Line 39 was named a Hot Prospect Brand by Impact Global Newsletter for the second consecutive year.
“This year marks our 5th anniversary and we’re so proud of all our successes, including expanding from two brands selling 30,000 cases in 2007 to four brands with sales reaching 350,000 cases this year,” says Roy Cecchetti, founder and CEO of Cecchetti Wine Company. “None of this would be possible without our talented winemaking and sales team, and all of our distributor, retail, and restaurant partners across the country,” he added.
The company has received a lot of recognition and awards since its launch in 2007, especially for Redtree and Line 39. Redtree received three consecutive Impact Hot Prospect Awards from 2008 to 2010, as well as being named a “Best Buy” and top five wine bargains from Consumers Reports. Redtree and Line 39 were named Rising Star Growth Brands by Beverage Information Group three years running (2009-2011).
The company expanded its portfolio in 2010 with the launch of Backhouse, a line of affordably-priced wines targeted at the on-premise market. This year they capitalized on the rise of red blends in the marketplace with the launch of Exitus, a California red blend in the ultra-premium price category. Currently, Cecchetti is preparing the launch of its fifth brand which will hit the market later this fall.
On the marketing and promotions side, Line 39 received praise for its innovative Social Media promotion, “Line by the Glass.” This nationwide contest asked chefs and sommeliers to create their best pairing recipes for Line 39 Sauvignon Blanc from Lake County. More than three dozen restaurants submitted photos and recipes that were posted on Facebook and voted on by more than 3,500 consumers. Daijo restaurant in Ocracoke, NC won the competition with its mixed seafood grill dish and will host Cecchetti’s anniversary party later this year. To take advantage of the current Presidential election cycle, Redtree launched a wine “get-out-the-vote campaign” called Vote Pinot to find out whether consumers prefer Pinot Noir or Pinot Grigio.
