WHAT: |
Local YMCA high school students address the texting while driving epidemic head-on by gathering thousands of fellow-teen pledges not to text and drive. September 19 marks AT&T’s national Don’t Text & Drive Pledge Day, and pop stars Ryan Beatty and Jasmine Villegas join students at noon at the Y to present the pledges to AT&T Vice President & General Manager for Greater Los Angeles Jace Barbin. |
The AT&T “It Can Wait” campaign is raising awareness of the dangers of texting while driving - urging all to take the pledge by going to www.itcanwait.com. The Weingart East LA YMCA Youth & Government program is part of a statewide initiative to involve students in California state issues culminating in a five-day Model Legislature and Court program in Sacramento where the youth “take over” state government. |
