SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--()--First Databank (FDB), the leading provider of clinical drug knowledge that helps improve medication-related decisions and patient outcomes, will gather preeminent health industry leaders and drug knowledge experts at the 2012 FDB Customer Seminar from September 19 – 21, in San Diego, California.
“This year we are intensely focusing on inventive problem solving that will help ensure our customers’ success and move the industry forward.”
The two-and-a-half day seminar brings together FDB customers and healthcare experts to discuss industry-specific issues that are both timely and relevant for uses of FDB drug knowledge within healthcare information systems serving hospitals, physician practices, retail pharmacy, payers (health plans, PBMs) and more. Educational sessions focus on current industry topics, including ways to address alert fatigue and message overload in EHR systems, interoperability, achieving Meaningful Use, and drug pricing and reimbursement.
Guest presenters from across the United States will demonstrate how FDB customers and their end users have implemented FDB drug knowledge within EMR/EHR, CPOE, EMAR, retail pharmacy, payer, mobile health, and other critical healthcare applications. FDB staff will also provide tutorial sessions on ways to optimize use of FDB drug knowledge in today’s HIT applications. The event also serves as a forum for FDB customers to consult in-person with FDB’s drug knowledge implementation team.
Keynoting the conference is bestselling author and educator Chip Heath. Heath is co-author of two books: Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard which debuted at #1 on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists, and Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die, also a New York Times and BusinessWeek bestseller. Heath’s presentation will bring together decades of counterintuitive research in psychology, sociology, and other fields to shed new light on how people can effect transformative change, especially in healthcare IT.
“This is FDB’s 24th year of convening our customers, staff, and industry thought leaders together to share ideas and provide insight on best practices in medication decision support,” said FDB President Greg Dorn, MD. “This year we are intensely focusing on inventive problem solving that will help ensure our customers’ success and move the industry forward.”
