COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--()--OutWest Systems today introduced the Optical Computer-Aided Training (OCAT) System—the industry’s first high-performance firearms training system with a starting price less than what most people pay for their smartphone.
“I was immediately impressed with the OCAT System’s flexibility, ease of use and very reasonable price point”
The OCAT System, which features live-fire and dry-fire (laser) modes, helps shooters quickly improve their skills by providing instant feedback and in-depth analysis of every shot fired. It’s like having a spotter and a coach available at any time and at any place.
Shooters can use the OCAT System indoors, outdoors, or at any range. It’s lightweight, sets up in seconds, and doesn’t require any external power sources. With the OCAT System, there is no need to walk down range or look through a scope to verify your hits. The system provides real-time audio and visual feedback and analysis to help you become a better marksman.
“The OCAT System brings to the typical target shooter the type of training system normally available only to training facilities and high-level competitive shooters,” said Paul Weissler, President and CEO of OutWest Systems.“ The inspiration for the system came out of my frustration when attempting to track hits during a target shooting session. The OCAT System helps shooters at all skill levels become better marksmen.”
The OCAT System:
- continuously monitors and shows the target in real time on the laptop display;
- automatically compensates for changing conditions, such as camera and target movement; and changes in lighting, such as sun, clouds, shade, etc.;
- is sensitive enough to detect hits as small as .177 caliber and laser pulses as short as 60 milliseconds (laser dry-fire mode);
- works with any firearm, pellet gun, or Airsoft gun—virtually anything that punches a hole in the target;
- provides real-time audio and video feedback so you can keep looking downrange while listening as your hits are reported; and
- records all of your hits in a database so you can compare results and identify common shooting mistakes.
“I was immediately impressed with the OCAT System’s flexibility, ease of use and very reasonable price point,” said Buddy J. Meyers, managing partner of Tall Guns LLC and certified NRA instructor. “The system is a price effective and easy-to-use solution for the shooter and instructor wanting to be better tomorrow than they are today.”
The OCAT System is available in four standard configurations—the basic system kit, standard system kit, deluxe system kit and laser system kit. The systems are available today online at www.OutWestSystems.com and through OutWest System partners at www.OCATS.com/partners.
