BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--With his drive and vision for Central Alabama intact, Trillion Communication’s President & CEO, Ralph Brown, has not wavered to correct that which will lift the suspension of the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) #5723, imposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) earlier this year. BTOP #5723 provides a Comprehensive Community Infrastructure (CCI) broadband network throughout eight (8) Alabama Counties (Macon, Lowndes, Dallas, Wilcox, Butler, Crenshaw, Conecuh, and Escambia) as part of President Obama’s effort to stimulate the demand for broadband, economic growth, and job creation in un-served and under-served rural communities. This network will provide data, voice, and advanced network services for households, businesses, and educational institutions within the service area.
“Bringing a new team, as well as implementing new management policies, processes and compliance controls, will make the difference in allowing us to deliver a next generation network that will meet government requirements, while delivering services within the next 90 to 120 days”
Over the past several months, Alabama’s Governor, Robert Bentley, the South Central Alabama Broad Band Commission (SCABC) and other state-elected officials have supported Trillion, in its endeavor to overcome the challenges impeding the project. As President & CEO of Trillion, Mr. Brown has been working diligently to implement the changes required to lift the suspension as to bring the value of the network and services, as well as to create jobs in South Central Alabama.
“Bringing a new team, as well as implementing new management policies, processes and compliance controls, will make the difference in allowing us to deliver a next generation network that will meet government requirements, while delivering services within the next 90 to 120 days,” says Mr. Brown.
Trillion is excited to bring G4S Technology LLC (G4S Technology), in partnership with MasTec (The G4S Team), as the Design/Build General Contractor and NetHix LLC (a joint venture consisting of Hixardt Technologies, Network Communications and GSI) as the wireless 5G engineering firm and service provider.
These vendors were selected based on their exceptional past performance in delivering the services required. Trillion has continued to work at an unsurpassed, committed pace to address the concerns identified in NOAA’s letter. More aptly, Trillion wants to ensure that the proper processes, procedures, contractors, and match are in place to achieve success by the end of the award period, on July 31. Mr. Brown exclaims, “I am committed to supporting the improvement of the quality of Life for the people of Alabama and have performed a significant amount of research into the resources and capabilities of our new team who will propel us forward at a very rapid pace.”
Trillion and SCABC submitted a revised realigned budget and a revised, more detailed project plan that are focused on creating jobs and spurring new commerce, while driving towards a revenue-based, open-network architecture. Service Providers have been essential to the success of BTOP projects across the nation. Trillion has partnered with NetHix LLC that has built and operates a wireless network in counties adjacent to four of the southern central Alabama counties. They will be able to offer services for four of the eight counties within 90 to 120 days over their Next Generation WIMAX 5G** Network in parallel to the fiber Network construction throughout the eight counties. These services include: data, email, voice, and advanced business cloud services with data speeds up to 1GB to the customer’s site. These services will be available immediately.
As we await the decision from NOAA to proceed with the project, I believe that we have overcome many of the barriers and hurdles of our past and have developed a sound, professional, and expert project plan to advance this project toward success, quotes Mr. Brown. “We are going above and beyond the notion of just building a network. This is a partnership with the State of Alabama and its people, as well as the organizations and businesses focused on creating new access to technology, new ways of communicating- both internally and externally.” This project promises crucial improvement in the prospects for economic growth, educational and career opportunities, and social and cultural fabric of life available to thousands of residents and businesses in this very important region of our state.
Trillion Communications Corporation remains committed and proud to support this critical undertaking and thanks everyone involved for their continued support in working to lifting the suspension and getting the teams back to work to deliver a wireless broadband network to service South Central Alabama.
