ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--The IACP Foundation today announced that it will hold its 6th annual fundraising gala on September 29th 2012 at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel in San Diego. Proceeds from the IACP Foundation Gala will fund the Foundation’s mission to support the families of injured and fallen officers and promote officer safety.

“Every year tens of thousands of law enforcement officers are killed or injured in the line of duty,” said Howard Safir, former New York City Police and Fire Commissioner, and member of the IACP Foundation board. “The IACP Foundation is developing programs that will provide much needed help to the families of these officers.”
The Foundation supports officer safety through the IACP’s Center for Officer Safety and Wellness, which addresses critical issues such as the prevention of violence against the police, reducing officer injuries, wellness with a special focus on suicide prevention, and an emphasis on traffic safety.
Ambassador Henry Crumpton will deliver the keynote address at the Gala. Ambassador Crumpton – author of The Art of Intelligence – led the CIA’s global covert operations against America's terrorist enemies, including al Qaeda. During his keynote address, he will recount his career with the CIA and in counter-intelligence efforts following September 11th.
The Gala is being sponsored by several prominent organizations, with longtime partner Lockheed Martin as the title sponsor. “Lockheed Martin has supported the law enforcement community for 35 years, and we are pleased to continue our sponsorship of the IACP Foundation and its mission of helping families of those who serve and protect,” said Dan Norton, vice president of Business Development for Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions – Civil.
